Insul-Deck® Offers New Lightweight Concrete
Forming System For Traditional and Post-tension
Floors and Roofs that Saves Time, Labor and Money.
Insul-Deck® is a fast, flexible and safe method to build a
concrete floor or roof that saves time, labor
and money. The patented system, made of expanded
polystyrene panel forms, offers a number of unique
features including self-supporting steel beams/furring
strips and integrated utility chases. The result
is Insul-Deck requires less labor and expense
in finishing operations. Paneling or drywall screws
directly to the integral furring strips. Utilities
can be routed easily through the chases molded
into Insul-Deck. The companys expanded polystyrene
panel system is priced competitively with other
forming systems such as hollow core, precast,
formed-in-place and pan decking.
Insul-Deck offers the superior sound deadening
and insulating properties of polystyrene while
delivering the strength of an integral concrete
floor or roof. The lightweight panels easily interlock
with a tongue-and-groove design, which forms the
bottom of a 5-inch wide concrete T-beam or joist.
Forms are precut to specification and delivered
on site for quick assembly. Insul-Deck®s
lightweight system saves on labor costs. Trained,
experienced crews can install Insul-Deck panels,
ready for pouring concrete in an average of one
minute per square foot. Standard forms create
integral concrete T-beams or joists from 7
to 12 1/2 high for spans up to 35-feet long.
Longer span forms are available by special order.
Complete Technical Specification Handbooks are available on-line
for both Traditional and Post-Tension construction.
The handbooks include span calculations
for various rebar use and deck thicknesses. Go
to www.insul-deck.org to register and download
both the Traditional and Post-Tension handbooks.
Insul-Deck is the first U.S. manufacturing plant
to incorporate Plastbau® technology. For more
than 20 years, the Plastbau® flooring system
has been used in a variety of buildings from homes,
condominiums, hotels and schools to high-rise
structures throughout Europe.
